The Tactical Dice Game of Lawn Dominance – Conceived & Designed by Ronald Van Hook
Official Operational Rules & Field Mechanics – Conceived & Designed by Ronald Van Hook
1:1. Total Dice Allocation
1:1.A. Four (4) player sets consisting of eight (8) standard six-sided dice (d6) per player, with each player utilizing an identical, unique solid color (32 player dice total).
1:1.B. One (1) neutral set of six (6) standard six-sided dice (d6) in a distinct, separate color (designated as White Power Dice).
1:2. The Expanded Lawn (6×5 Field)
1:2.A. The central Lawn accommodates thirty (30) total dice positions organized into six (6) horizontal rows corresponding to face values 1 through 6.
1:2.B. Each horizontal row accommodates exactly five (5) dice in a linear sequence: Far-Left, Inner-Left, Center Position, Inner-Right, and Far-Right.
1:2.C. Pre-Deployment: All six (6) neutral White Power Dice are pre-positioned in the exact Center Position of each corresponding row (Power Die 1 on Row 1 through Power Die 6 on Row 6).
1:3. Staging Zones
1:3.A. Dedicated staging areas extend beyond the Far-Left and Far-Right boundaries of each 5-die row on the Lawn to hold queued player reserves.
2:1. Bilateral Row Balancing
2:1.A. Before a row is full, all placements must symmetrically balance around the Center Power Die.
2:1.B. Sequence of Infill:
2:1.B.(1). Inner Flanks: The 1st and 2nd dice played onto an open row must occupy the Inner-Left and Inner-Right positions directly adjacent to the Center Power Die.
2:1.B.(2). Outer Flanks: The 3rd and 4th dice played onto that row must occupy the Far-Left and Far-Right boundary positions, completing the 5-die row.
3:1. Power Thresholds
3:1.A. To legally take a seat on an open space, initiate a push, or establish a staging position on a row, a player's Active Strength must equal or exceed the strength of any other single competitor on that row.
3:1.B. Active Strength Formula:
Active Strength = Player's Existing Dice on Row + The Die Being Played + Power Die Modifier
3:2. Neutral Power Die Utility
3:2.A. While resting uncaptured on the Lawn, the neutral Power Die grants a +1 Strength modifier exclusively to the active player during their current turn.
3:3. Permanent Power Die Capture Utility
3:3.A. Capturing and ejecting a Power Die grants that capturing player a permanent +1 Strength modifier for all future offensive pushes and defensive push resistance on that specific numerical row for the remainder of the round.
4:1. Staging Reserves
4:1.A. If a player lacks the immediate Strength to place directly onto a row or execute a push, they may elect to Stage an otherwise legally playable boundary die in the staging zone at the outer flank of that row.
4:1.B. Staging satisfies the requirement for mandatory movement.
4:1.C. Successive Staged Dice: A player may continue adding staged dice to their queue on subsequent turns to accumulate sufficient Strength to execute a push.
4:2. The Collapse Protocol
4:2.A. Trigger: If any player adjusts a 5-die row (via placement, displacement, or pushing), all staged dice belonging to other players on that row instantly Collapse.
4:2.B. Recovery Requirement: Collapsed dice do not return all at once. They are returned to their owner's personal Player Row at the rate of one (1) die per turn upon that player's upcoming turns.
4:2.C. Turn Consumption: Retrieving a single collapsed die constitutes that player's entire turn, during which normal Tactical Boundary Rolls and Lawn placements are suspended until the recovery action is resolved.
5:1. The 5-Die Conveyor Vector
5:1.A. Pushing is locked until all five (5) row positions are completely occupied (4 player dice plus 1 Power Die, or 5 player dice).
5:1.B. Fluid Displacement: Playing or advancing a die onto the Far-Left or Far-Right boundary slides the entire 5-die sequence across the grid like a conveyor belt, shifting intermediate dice by one position and ejecting the terminal die off the opposite edge.
5:2. Power Die Ejection & Capture
5:2.A. Direct attacks cannot target the Power Die while it is flanked in interior spaces. It must be incrementally shifted through conveyor movement to a Far-Left or Far-Right terminal position.
5:2.B. The next push executed toward the edge holding the Power Die completely ejects it from the board, granting that player an immediate Capture.
5:2.C. Captured Power Dice are staged aside by the capturing player, providing permanent row Strength and scoring full face value at the end of the round.
5:3. Opponent Die Re-Entry
5:3.A. Pushing an opponent's player die off the row requires the pushing player to actively roll that ejected die, which is then accepted and re-inserted in ascending order into the defending player's personal Player Row.
6:1. Mandatory Action & Strike Accumulation
6:1.A. If a player possesses any legal tactical roll, placement, push, or staging move, they must execute it.
6:1.B. If no legal move exists, the player must pass and receive one (1) Strike.
6:1.C. Accumulating three (3) consecutive Strikes eliminates that player from taking further actions for the remainder of the round. Voluntary staging may be used to maintain active play and avoid a third strike.
6:2. Solo Endgame Grind Transition
6:2.A. If three players have fully placed all their dice (or have been eliminated via three consecutive strikes), the sole remaining active player enters the Solo Grind.
6:2.B. The solo player is exempt from strike accumulation and continuously executes Tactical Boundary Rolls until legal, playable values are generated to complete their final placements on open or pushable rows.
7:1. Multi-Die Control Calculations
At the conclusion of the round, each player tallies points for all dice of their color occupying each individual 5-die row according to the following tiered scale:
7:1.A. 2 Dice on a Row: Scored at Half Face Value per die (e.g., two 5s = 5 points total).
7:1.B. 3 Dice on a Row: Scored at Full Face Value per die (e.g., three 5s = 15 points total).
7:1.C. 4 Dice on a Row: Scored as Full Face Value for 3 dice plus Double Face Value (2×) for the 4th die (e.g., four 5s = 15+10=25 points total).
7:1.D. 5 Dice on a Row (Complete Monopolization): Scored as Full Face Value for 3 dice, Double Face Value (2×) for the 4th die, and Quadruple Face Value (4×) for the 5th die (e.g., five 5s = 15+10+20=45 points total).
7:2. Captured Power Dice Tally
7:2.A. Each captured White Power Die adds its full upward face value to the capturing player's final round score.
Genesis & Purpose: Conceived and designed by Ronald Van Hook, Get Off My Lawn: 4-Player Edition is a multi-agent discrete-state simulation modeling congested register pipelines, open-state stochastic scheduling, asymmetric barrier synchronization, limit-order market microstructure, and quorum preemption.
Each lawn row operates as a fixed-capacity double-ended register ($k = 5$) centered on a high-value neutral anchor. Infill priority is symmetrical: inner flank addresses ($i \in \{1, 3\}$) must achieve occupancy before outer peripheral ports ($i \in \{0, 4\}$) accept writes. Once saturated, direct writes lock and convert the pipeline into an inward shift register with peripheral data ejection.
Executing an eviction on a saturated register requires quorum dominance ($\text{Power}_{\text{agent}} \ge \max_{j \neq \text{agent}}\text{Power}_j$). Underpowered writes are intercepted and held in external Staging Buffers. This models both asynchronous thread-pooling in distributed computing and off-book Dark Pool / Iceberg Order accumulation in financial exchanges, holding pending commitments until sufficient mass exists to cross the spread.
Staging buffers maintain weak consistency. Modifying a register via a valid conveyor push immediately invalidates all competing uncommitted staged units on that lane, returning them to source queues. This directly mirrors Optimistic Concurrency Control (OCC) cache invalidation and stop-loss liquidation cascades triggered by aggressive order flow.
Because all agent queues are public and boundary-constrained ($O(1)$ head/tail operations), agents operate under full information. Locked ceiling values (e.g. banked highest-boundary dice) act as impassable depth walls, redirecting liquidity to uncontested low registers. Agents evaluate exact branch success probabilities ($P = 1 - (5/6)^k$) to mathematically arbitrate between high-risk lock contention (Power Cubes) and deterministic secondary lane throughput.
Total system tokens ($\sum |\mathcal{Q}_i| + |\mathcal{B}| + |\mathcal{S}| = 32$) remain strictly conserved across all execution cycles. Staging escapes, voluntary reclaims, and monotonic strike progression eliminate priority inversion and guarantee deadlock-free termination.
